Your 2 days Akagera game drive to explore the Akagera National Park which is located in Eastern Rwanda on the border with Tanzania will give you a great experience to explore this only savanna national park where safari game drive can only be carried in Rwanda. Akagera national park is known for harboring the Big 5 with the recent introduction of the lions. Akagera national park is a the only Savannah park in Rwanda and is home to several mammal species including Lions, Elephants, Giraffes, Hippos, Kobs, Zebras, Bushbucks, Waterbucks and most recently Black Rhinos have been introduces from South Africa, making Akagera national park officially a big 5 park like it was many years ago. You will be able, to do both game drives and boat trip on Lake Ihema, during your safari tour to Akagera. There is a lot to see, feel and enjoy. From wildlife, bird species, and the flora.

Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Akagera National Park. Travel time + 2.5 hours

Today, after your relaxed morning breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked by our safari guide and leave for Akagera national park, the journey to Akagera national park takes about 2.5 hours depending on the stopovers along the way, with the beautiful un winding landscape en route to the park, feel free to ask the guide for stopovers to capture some photos. On arrival at the park, we shall proceed to our accommodation after a short game drive and check in for lunch. After lunch, we head for a boat trip on Lake Ihema watch Hippos and crocodiles in the water or by the shores and meet the buffaloes and elephants wallowing by the water banks. Later return to the lodge for dinner and evening stay.

Day 2: Full day Game drive and transfer back to Kigali.

Today early morning after having your breakfast at your lodge/ camp, you will be picked by your safari driver guide at about 6 am from your lodge and head for a full day safari game drive to Akagera national park with your parked lunch from the lodge, as you will not return back. Akagera national park is majorly a Savannah Park with Elephants, Zebras, Giraffes, Buffaloes, Waterbucks, Topi’s and recently introduced Lions. We shall take a game drive in search of these wildlife and numerous bird species. The game drive can last about 5-7 hours depending on the animal sightings and interest. Have a picnic lunch in case you packed before your last game drive on your way out of the park arriving in Kigali later that evening. End of service!
